Vero ka Math is a temple devoted to Lord Shiva and Lord Parashuram. It is about 10 km away from Kumbhalgarh in Rajasthan. It is also the origin point of Banas River.
I visited it as part of what is popular on tourist itinerary, the village safari. The route leading to the math is scenic.
When we reached there, it was almost empty, there were not more than five people including my daughter, me and the priest of the temple!
The temple is devoted to Lord Shvia and his idol is trimukhi or having three face, which is unusual. It is said that Lord Parashuram also stayed here and taught warfare to eligible people.
At the back of the temple you can see a kund which is the starting point of Banas River. I met the head priest and we chatted briefly. And to imagine we talked about travel more than the history of the temple. He asked where all I have been and what are my favorite places! I somehow didn’t ask him much!
After coming out of the temple, we sat at the small dhaba outside the temple. We had tea, Maggi and sugarcane juice at the stall. The sugarcane juice was super fresh and I highly recommend it. I chatted with the gentleman running the dhaba. He said at the spot, there was no internet still. But at his home, a few kilometers away, there was internet.
They asked me the price of my flight ticket and when I mentioned the price of a return ticket, he said he would not make that much money in a month. But then, the air was fresh, sky was blue and there was no traffic. I would not put a price on such things. In a while it was time to head to our open jeep and continue on our village safari!
If you go to Vero ka Math, do stop by the dhaba and enjoy a while there! When I go next time I will find out more about the place and update this post.
