The Wonderful Village Safari in Kumbhalgarh, Rajasthan

Posted on January 15, 2026January 15, 2026

Chhavi and I visited Kumbhalgarh in Rajasthan as we are fans of off beat places. One of the best things we did at Kumbhalgarh was the open jeep Village Safari. It gives you a wonderful feel of the place. In November, the weather was perfect for traveling in an open jeep. If you wish, you can do this in a regular car too. We had a great driver and we thoroughly enjoyed our day!

We were in good mood as we entered the open jeep at our hotel, the wonderful Radisson Blu Kumbhalgarh. We were quiet initially, admiring the scenery. Then I started asking questions and our driver replied happily. So, it set the tone just right for the whole trip. The air was crisp and AQI wonderful. Coming from Gurgaon, this was bliss. It was a clear day with beautiful blue skies. Our first stop was Hamerpal Lake.

Hamerpal Lake

Hamerpal Lake is in the Hamerpal village! It is an idyllic rustic place with not much around. But the lake is full of catfish! A young girl sold fodder for the fish. Her mother sold fresh guavas, cucumber and tomatoes. Chhavi and I bought a plate of fodder, the smaller one. Then I could see Chhavi wanted to feed more. So this time we bought the bigger one. By now I realized that she would empty the stand and still want more. So, two plates was what we fed, one big, one small to lots of fish!

After that we enjoyed eating guava with that excellent chilli masala! Then we were off to our next stop!

Vero Ka Math

Vero ka Math is a temple devoted to Lord Shiva and Lord Parashuram. It is also the origin of the Banas River. It is a peaceful place! We chatted with the pujari (priest) and it was about travel! He was interested in knowing where all I went and what I liked when I travel! Outside, at the dhabha, we ate Maggi, had tea and then drank sugarcane juice. All of it was wonderful along with the weather. I have written about it here. After spending a lot of time at this spot, we headed out once again.

Parashuram Temple

The road all around was narrow but clear of traffic, barring an occasional vehicle. The sky was blue, the air crisp and our mood happy. We stopped along the way where our driver pointed out at the Marwar region spread out in front of us. We were in Mewar. In a while, we reached at the Parashuram temple. There is a small one on the road and a larger one a few kilometers away. We were content to visit the temple by the road. And then we were off to our last stop.

Ganga Govardhan Museum

Ganga Govardhan Museum, Kumbhalgarh, Rajasthan

Our last stop on the village tour was Ganga Govardhan Museum. To enter you need to buy a ticket. There is a small amount of fee to be paid if you wish to do photography inside the museum. The museum has beautiful with ornate gates and a beautifully maintained ground.

Inside, it is divided in two floors. The building is modern, well lit and well organized. It has exhibits from India and from other parts of the world. We certainly enjoyed looking at the Indian collection of coins, swords. We delighted in unexpectedly meeting with Russian dolls and Chinese porcelain in their collections. By now it was noon and both of us were hungry. After spending a little time we headed back to our jeep and to the hotel!
