This small girl was not at all afraid of the crowds, she sat on her father’s shoulders and had a nice time. I later saw her with her mom as well, she was eating food. For sure she would have been hungry. Her father was there for quite sometime with she happily on the shoulder.
I could click this because I climbed on the rooftop of the canteen along with the India Live TV crew and many others. There was A2Z news as well but there connection didn’t work. I used my zoom to the max to get this picture.
There were many faces of protest. I have never been a part of anything like this. In fact my sister and I would often say that we Indians do not have a culture of protest.
There were TV cameras and there were personal cameras and every one had something or the other to click.
The flag that you see in the picture was tied to the hair of the person in the picture! Who said style is only for dudes?
Father daughter protesting at Jantar Mantar. Even though we all knew that Anna Hazare was going to break his fast today, there were so many of us out there.
Song and dance was her way of protest and she was with a big group at Jantar Mantar. I think some TV channel covered them for quite sometime too.
Looks like everyone was welcome, saw Adivasi banner, Poverty banner, Village banner and IIT Roorkee banner among many others.
I have to say again, I have never witnessed anything like this! I feel privileged to be a part of the crowd at Jantar Mantar.
People taking pot shots on cricket, I have to say I like it.
Anna rocks, no doubt!
I have so many more pictures! I can do 10 posts!
However flawed the movement may have been, I think it is better than doing nothing. After all this is the first time I ever went to a mass gathering.
It must have been fascinating to be part of such a mass protest… as u say, we arent really all that good at such things…. wonderful pics, as usual…
Wonderful pictures …I particularly like the Song and Dance 🙂
So many pic. Good capture.
Interesting set there.
Mriduladi,
I see why you and your sis would say we indians don’t have a culture of protest.. it stems from our inherent middle/upper class coconned lifestyles .. When in fact we have done it time and again, over 25 yrs of fight of the Bhopalis, and numerous protests in recent yrs by adivasis, villagers in Bihar, Bengal, Maharashtra, and latest in UP against dams, mining industries and nuclear plants are a testament to it.
I feel its time to learn from what the world has achieved (egypt, tunisia and counting, & who said these countries had any culture of even free speech, leave asides ‘protest’!) and do the same in India to get back a common/street man’s rights to basic needs of clean water, air, rivers, forests, education & health!
Yourpictures are quite amazing.. can I share it with my friends? for those who are not following the indian media.. thanks.
this shows how the people in India are aware of the affairs in India, giving a hint (rather a slap on the face of) “BABUs” and “NETA ji” that we are not dumb fool that u can gulp 70k crore without a burp getting noticed!!
on a lighter side i wish i was there today then i would have requested people to pls dnt go back, lets make a protest to find poonam pandey :P:P:P (she just vanished in the air the way she came into existence :D:D)
lol
Very Nice pictures Mridula that captures the spirit that Whole of India was engulfed with. We did our part in Bangalore.
Anuradha it was quite an experience going there, climbing up the canteen rooftop and taking pictures and being part of the protest.
