As new trips don’t seem to be happening I was thinking of some of the trips I really enjoyed. And given that I can’t think beyond bullet points and numbers I thought I would pick up the top five trips, that have stayed with me.
At #5 I will put my Taj Safari trip to Banjar Tola for it was truly utterly out of my league experience. The per night charge for these tents in season used to be 39,000 rupees and in off season when I went it was 19,000. It was jaw dropping luxurious at least that is how it came across to me! Quite out of my league and can only dream of getting such sponsorship again.
I would put my first trek of Sar Pass via the Youth Hostel at #4 trip till date. Never before I had seen such open vistas. And this was the first time ever I snow too. Unforgettable.
At #3 is the trip to Goa, as both my nephews could join us. After that we could never manage to go together, one or the other brat would be missing. It is also special because this as my first story with Gonomad.
The fight between the #2 and #1 spot is tough between Ladakh and Oxford.
In the end I really just tossed the coin and picked up Ladakh as #2. The journey itself from Manali to Leh and back is special. When I went I was in one frame of mind, on the trek I fell sick and we had to turn back but I was full of hope when we turned back from Leh to Manali.
I think it helps that I went to Oxford 3 times, loved the walks and I have a lot of pleasant memories associated with it. Hence it is the current #1. I wonder how my list will look like 5 years down the line!
Wow, what experiences! I dream of Ladakh since years, no wait, decades, and I never even have been in Oxford, although it was practically in my neighbourhood. I must say, that Taj Safari is something to add to my dreams 😉

But I still have a question. Where there any oxes and fords at Oxford? 😛
nice list….. not a bad way to recreate the feeling of travelling when one is stuck at home…. havent been to any of those places except Goa… but each of them sound really interesting…ladakh has been on my list for ages…. and as to Banjar tola, well, i have read so much about it, but cant possibly afford it.. what a pity!
