The Skoda Yeti National Geographic Gir story is now up at Gonomad. Please check it out.

The highlight of these safaris is obviously the lion sightings. In all my outings before, I had never seen anything but pug marks of the big cats. So imagine my surprise when, on the very first ride, I got to see a distant lion, just an outline, but a lion nonetheless.

Some people do not understand my enthusiasm for it, but all I can say is I too do not understand their attitude, thinking that a lion/tiger would be waiting for them at the park gate! I am actually quite happy just to be inside the jungle.

The sightings just kept on becoming better and better. …

It is a rare opportunity that comes across, visiting jungles and the big cats waiting for you. I was in Nandan Kanan a few years back and could find lot of tigers, but all snoozing after heavy meal. They get their feed at regular intervals. But the drive inside the jungle was exciting.

    Hi Mridula,

Gir is nice place to go. The only place in India where Asiatic Lions enjoy some freedom and peace. In Gir National Park there are more than 23000 species of fauna that thrive in the jungles. The park is a home to large variety of insects and birds. Among mammals, nilgai, antelope, chinkara, chital, porcupine and hare are most common herbivores. I guess u get chance to see all of these ; )
