Dilip D is Brat 1. While he and I were walking on the Sunday afternoon, he suddenly looked over a wall and said there is a bird. So, I gave him the camera because from the road I could not see over the wall. Brat 1 has an advantage that he is around 6 feet 3 inches tall. So, he took the camera and tired many shots. That got me curious too, and I stood on ย the raised part of the road to take a peak. Sure enough there was this Green (don’t ask me why it is called Green) Sandpiper. After spotting the bird I asked Brat 1 for the camera. But then it was very difficult for me to balance on the raised edge and take a picture. So, all the Green Sandpiper has been taken by my tall nephew. We are planning to go for a walk on this weekend as well.
Why it is called green? ๐
Because color of beer bottle is green….:D

It is balancing well on one leg. Nice shot.
Your second pic is so interesting. I still wonder how its is balancing so well in 1 leg.

Tarun, I asked the same question at Indiamike, where folks told me it is called a Green Sandpiper. “Green Sandpiper has a darker shade of green which is hard to see (see the picture above). But, there are so many similar looking sandpipers — like Wood Sandpiper, Marsh Sandpiper, and Terek Sandpiper — the only way to come up with a common name is pick the most distinguishing feature of the bird from others”
