No Trekking Plans for Sure this Summer!

Posted on March 24, 2008
Ladakh- The Food Place Near Pangong Lake

Since 2003, every summer we have trekked or at least tried to trek. Tried as in we went trekking but could not complete the Markha Valley Trek in Ladakh, as I took ill.

In the summer of 2003 it was Saar Pass

In the summer of 2004 it was Har Ki Doon

In the summer of 2005 it was the unfinished trek in Ladakh

In the summer of 2006 it was Kuari Pass

In the summer of 2007 it was Spiti

So, of course, I feel quite like a fish out of water as I am not sure whether I will be able to trek this summer or not. I mean there could be some work related travel (but this one is with a big ‘maybe’). Of course, my family merrily told me that if I am not coming they are trekking on their own and anyway my nephews are much better trekkers than me, Sesha only likes to think so! I am keeping my figures crossed. I mean I don’t know which one I want more.

Lets hope you get to.Nice picture there. Haven’t made it to Ladakh yet despite much dreaming and planning; hoping to realize it this year.

A good count! All these are in my list of ‘101 places to trek, before I die’. But, I’m yet to embrace the mighty Himalayas…

Akhila, I feel you get spoiled after trekking in Himalayas, at least that is the case with us. We do not wish to go anywhere else!Priyank, no if I do not trek it would be because I may travel for *work*.Madhukar, I need two weeks to do a good trek but let us see.

I liked best the narration of HKD and photographs of Kuari Pass.

Indica, thanks a lot for following up on the comment. And I agree the Kuari pass pictures are beautiful even though they are from a point and shoot. I will have to look at the narration of HKD again 🙂

I’m planning a trek in the Garhwal region in August. Most likely would be VoF, but if there are landslides enroute (as expected in the rainy season in the region), I might then choose another destination. Yea, do read HKD again and I’m sure that would make you more determined to set out on another trek. 🙂
