The Sokha Angkor- Siem Reap, Cambodia

I stayed for only one night at Sokha Angkor, Siem Reap. And yet I liked it a lot. It is a luxury hotel in Siem Reap, quite close to Pub Street and not too far from the Angkor Temples. The lobby was impressive, we were a group of about 30 checking in (but as we were with Tourism Authority of Thailand, I guess ours was not a normal group) but we had no hassle. Once I reached the room, I liked what I saw out of the window. I had a pool facing room and the view was nice.

The hotel had a beautiful pool but as I was spending only one night I could not go anywhere near it. Out of that one night we had dinner hosted by the Ministry of Tourism, Cambodia at another resort, we went to pub street after that and I got up for the sunrise at Angkor Wat. In all I would have spent less than 6 hours inside the beautiful room. Out of which one hour would be internet and 4 hours for sleep! The internet connection was fine!

As you can see the room was big. It was clean too, I had no issues with the room. There was a tea maker in the room as well, which is essential for me. I have not clicked the bathroom but that too was well appointed. It had a bath tub as well. Now I am hugely divided over bath tubs. It feels good to use them occasionally and yet the amount of water I end up wasting somewhat spoils the nice soak! I assuage my conscious by saying I don’t have one at home so this should be written off as an one off luxury.

This was the hotel limousine (a Ford car), I was content by just taking a picture. However some of our group members took it for a drive. I was told it was for $70 (but not sure how many hours) and if 7 people shared it, it came to $10. Here is a smashing video of the event when others took it for a drive. Before I forget, the only meal I had there was the breakfast and it was lavish. Overall, I had a good time at the hotel.
