Breakfast in Thamel, Kathmandu, Nepal

Of Breakfasts and of Future Travel Plans

Posted on June 13, 2012April 24, 2025

If you have read my Everest Base Camp Trek accounts (I know I keep going back to them, looks like I have left a piece of my heart on the route) by the end I was longing for cakes and pan cakes.

I had them all and at that point of time without any guilt about calories! Diana had recommended Pumpernickel Bakery at Thamel, Kathmandu and it was an excellent recommendation.

However in a desperate attempt to move on, two new trips are on cards, just on cards, planning about them.

One could be in June itself to Sikkim and I am keen on doing Valley of Flowers sometime in July.

Valley of Flowers – July month? September/October maybe is the best time if not July (rainy season). Correct if I am wrong.

Anu but after EBC I have got so restless, like never before in my life.

    No Meena 😀

    Rama holidays only!

Akhila that for putting it as a blessing breakfast, what a lovely idea! I wish I were born with heels, how I envy those who take breaks for a year or so!

Tushar I am told that flowers bloom in July too and it is easy for me to take leave in July rather than September. Correct me if I am wrong.

Chitra, am planning VOF but not Badrinath, question of leaves.

And after a trek doubly so Lady Fi.

the breakfast is very inviting, I love the pancakes much, though…

Valley of Flowers… wow! Such a beautiful trek …been there in July 2009 thru YHAI. Our trek started from 20th July and I was in the first day, first batch… its awfully lovely valley and I hope you will make it till the very end of the valley. See if it can be stretched in the month of August as the flowers bloom fully in August and you will be able to see the colorful Himalayan flower bed all over till the end of the Valley.

Btw, your EBC blog was utterly picturesque and loved reading every word of it with so much interest and my desire to be there got more stronger and stronger now….

    Best of luck…
