Came across a thread named Bus Ride from Cannought Place to Holland at Indiamike. Looks like it was possible to buy a ticket on such a bus in 1970s and some have tried to travel overland from Europe to India as late as 2007!
While talking to an old India hand few days ago I came across this reference about some direct bus service which use to ply, way back in 70’s from Regal cinema in Cannought Place to Holland. I am given the impression, they ply as late as 1972.
Another excellent thread at Indiamike about overland travel to India from Europe.
was just wondering what life would have been like many years ago before technology came into our lives
Technology has ruined it really. I guess the generation of the '70s was better, at least they got to see the world with their eyes. We see it on our computer and TV screens.
Travelling around the world is something dear to me.In the link that you have posted is indeed informativeI wanted to this trip although not to till europe ,but the plan seems amazing ,here is my take on itDelhi-Islamabad-take a detour to Iran directly instead of Afghanistan since there are apparently more suicide bombings in the last 3 months (from what i read in news)-Turkey-georgia -russia-ukraine-belarus(a fantastic country-a small but scenic country)-germany-hollandOfcourse you can peep into iran and afghanistan-they are really scenic-you can do that based on the situation at the borderHope to do this trip someday [:)]
Lakshmi and skyfullofclouds but people have done this as late as 2007, it has been the conflicts that lead to visa complications. The wild, please do it someday!
