Photography at the Dubare Elephant Camp Site, Coorg

The Couple at Dubare Elephant Camp, Coorg

I took this picture of a couple at the Dubare Elephant Camp in Coorg (some details of this trip can be found at my Club Mahindra post). They of course were quite engrossed with each-other and we were wondering why they needed a tripod (it is not visible in this shot but the camera is on a tripod) in the broad daylight and when taking pictures at this close distance. But then who am I to question their technique, I myself know next to nothing about photography. I also remember they crossed our path sometime later and the guy said in a chirpy to me, “We have the same camera.” Of course I had to smile in return.

Sometimes, I feel like asking such folk, when I encounter them at some picturesque location or the other, “If all that you ever wanted to do was to photograph yourselves, why did you really have to bother to venture so far away from home?”:D

may be they were experimenting with their newly bought camera or trying to learn how to use tripod..Let us not question it…

Mridula one thing is sure, a tripod is after all a tripod and certainly add some thing more to your serious pix (I dont say this thing about the compostion part in the present case) and the second is more practical you just dont take the camera off the pod when you know that it will be needed again in the next shot. sidhhu sa’ab one can certainly have some (such type of) breaks so far away from home

I think its cute. Photographs with just nature and buildings become quite boring sometimes.

Sidhu, I can understand what you are saying :)Srinidhi, I myself said I am not questioning it, I just found it a little curious.Wanderer, at faster speeds and in good light hands do quite well, only when you need a real low aperture and shutter speed then you need to steady the camera, that is what I understand but as I said I might be wrong. and what Sidhu can have or not is entirely up to him :)Thanks Smita for offering an alternative perspective. What can look slightly puzzling to one can certainly be cute for another. Hope you had a blast in Thailand.
