A Small Video of The Chalets at Naldehra, Himachal Pradesh
I took a small break at Naldehra, quite close to Shimla in Himachal Pradesh. I have to admit I was aware of the Chalets before, I think someone had mentioned about it on my blog itself. But this time I managed to get an invitation from them to spend sometime at their property. And as Sesha had already 15 days off, I went alone.
When I arrived at Naldehra it was 5.00 in the evening. I had started from Kalka Shatabdi in the morning from New Delhi. As usual I had taken an Avomine for my motion sickness in the mountains for the Kalka to Naldehra journey. When I had checked in and looked in the mirror, I was amazed that no one fainted at the site of me, I looked so tired and my hair was a fright! I was too zonked to manage to click a picture of that mine!
But after 2 full days and 2 half ones, I have come back as a different person. Some of the highlights of the trip has been-
The temperature controlled swimming pool– The Chalets, Naldehra has a temperature controlled indoor swimming pool and I took a swim on two days. It has been a year since I had a swim, the last was at the Taj Safari pool at the Banjaar Tola.
The Chalet itself: If you look at the video, you can see what a pretty room I had to myself! It was quite misty all around and yet the views were fabulous. Or maybe because it was misty, the views were fabulous at Naldehra!
The Staff: The staff at the Chalets is very polite and if they see you hesitating about something, they quickly try to set you at ease.
The Golf Course: There is a golf course quite close to the Chalets, and they can arrange for an experience. I am told that the HP government charges a nominal 200 rupees as the charge for using the golf course but I did not give it a try.
The Walks: Take in any direction you wish to take, and it will lead to a scenic walk. It took some convincing on the hotel staff’s part but I took all the walks alone and they were perfectly safe at Naldehra.
The Food: I tried the Indian, continental and the Chinese dishes from the menu and for me continental came on the top but that is because I always like mild flavors. I am sure you can try anything and it would come out good.
A more detailed post will follow as usual at Gonomad. You cxan read more reviews of the Chalets, Naldehra at the Tripadvisor too.
The Chalets have been maintained extremely well. The property looks the same today when it was opened. And yes they have a great staff and great food.
