Hopping Over!

Posted on November 16, 2009

Delhi-Dubai-Manchester
This time it is not a direct flight. I am hopping via Dubai and yet hardly any time there. Anyway you will find some pictures of the Dubai airport later. I have once spent 23 hours 40 minutes in transit at Dubai and yet did not venture out then! I wonder if they still give a transit tourist visa at the airport itself.

Have a safe journey. The long flight is what I hate most in International journeys. In contrast the long train journeys with my family are ones I enjoy most during domestic travel.

Mridula,There is no Visa on Arrival for transit at DXB, if you are a Indian Passport holder. I went through the same. :(Coincidence again, guess what… I am in London now. How long would you be in Manchester?

Sangfroid, they must be afraid that we Indians would slip over in Dubai and not come back 😀

Though I am told it is not necessarily issued yet there are times when transit visas are granted at Dubai airport, when requested, to passengers with confirmed onward airline bookings. I know of a friend who succeeded in getting one last year for a couple of days who later on proceeded to UK. A far easier option would be for a hotel in Dubai to arrange a visa in advance prior to travel.
