Beautiful Budapest

Posted on November 26, 2017February 18, 2022

I actually wanted to visit Budapest when I went to Prague earlier this year. But with two kids in tow, I chickened out! But I was lucky to visit it with my sister this year. We spent seven nights in Budapest and that is just about the right amount of time to spend in the city. I could happily add a few more nights if I could.

There is so much to write that I am kind off stuck! To begin with I am doing a round up of my Instagram pictures of Budapest. Fall is a gorgeous time to be in Budapest. We were blessed with beautiful weather too!

Vajdahunyad Castle, it looked like it was straight out of a fairy tale! #sisteract @alka_dw

My biggest delight in Budapest was having time! That meant I could click pictures the way I wanted. Now the trick is to go on more trips like this in 2018!

Gellert Hill, Budapest at Dusk! Clicked this one from the evening cruise on Danube. Holidays are better when you take them with your sister! #sisteract @alka_dw

Gellert Hill is one of the high vantage points in the city. You get gorgeous pictures of the town from here! We went there twice. That is what slow travel allows you, to revisit the places you liked!

The city beautiful, Budapest! It is even prettier at night and goes well with mulled wine on a cold night! #sisteract @alka_dw

I will not say that Budapest is more beautiful during the night, I loved it during the day too. But you have to get out at night and see its splendor! Once again Gellert Hill is a good place to enjoy Budapest at night.

Two of my favorite things in one shot the Parliament Building in Budapest and a tram at the near side! I know this is not strictly #themetroproject but I am going to put the trams under it! #sisteract @alka_dw

A post shared by Mridula Dwivedi (@mridulablog) on Nov 16, 2017 at 8:49am PST

I love traveling in trams and metros! It could be because I can’t afford taxis anyways! We used public transport all the time expect to and from the airport.

Chain Bridge and the roundabout near the Buda Castle at night! #sisteract #budapest @alka_dw

Chain Bridge is one of the most iconic landmarks of Budapest. This picture was taken from the top of the tunnel on the Buda Castle side. There is a platform above the tunnel which gives this view of the roundabout and the bridge.

The red squirrel and the fall colors at Margaret Island, Budapest! She vanished up a tree while I changed the lens and then reappeared to pose briefly!

A post shared by Mridula Dwivedi (@mridulablog) on Nov 11, 2017 at 9:59am PST

Margret Island is a great place to enjoy fall colors in Budapest! The red squirrel obliged us by posing among the fallen leaves!

When I hauled myself up to the Buda Castle before sunrise! It is at a walking distance from my hotel @novotelbudapestdanube

A post shared by Mridula Dwivedi (@mridulablog) on Nov 6, 2017 at 1:04am PST

I would run up the Buda Castle at sunrise and have the entire place almost to myself. This is the view I got of the parliament on one cold morning.

Fall in Budapest is amazing!

A post shared by Mridula Dwivedi (@mridulablog) on Nov 4, 2017 at 10:43am PDT

I was sitting on the ground clicking the fallen leaves! Right then the family decided to cross through and make my picture beautiful! This was clicked at the park near the Hero’s Square.

The gorgeous fall colors at the Margaret Island in Budapest. It is close to my hotel @novotelbudapestdanube hop over to their account as I have done a takeover for the stories! @alka_dw

A post shared by Mridula Dwivedi (@mridulablog) on Nov 3, 2017 at 9:53am PDT

If I have gone bonkers with fall colors, you can’t blame me. It is only the second time in my life I have witnessed it, the first being Oxford, UK. This picture was clicked at Margret’s Island on our first day of the trip!

Trams my love, in Budapest Hungary #themetroproject

Tram 2 is said to be traveling the most scenic route in Budapest. We did hop on to it and enjoyed the scenery.

This was the first time my sister and I traveled together as adults! I told her I would kidnap her if need be but we were going to take a vacation together! I wish we had done it earlier but better late than never. I hope we will take many more vacations! The sisters of the #sisteract in Budapest @alka_dw

And that is us, the sisters of the #sisteract who had a gorgeous time at Budapest. I can’t wait to travel with my sister again!
