White Flowers and Green Berries from Spiti

Posted on September 4, 2009

Flowers from Spiti called Capers (name via Ulla)

When I trek, I try and click every flower that I see. I still remember that this twine was near the bridge that led to the village Lhalung. But no idea about the name of the flowers. I wonder if there is a good book on the names of Himalayan flowers?
PS. Got to know the name later in the comment from Ulla.

Where is Lhalung in Spiti…not sure it rings a bell in my head…The best idea to find a good book is to take photos of your flowers, sit in a good bookstore and search for that on all relevant works…pick the one with the richest photograph and variety of information…it worked for me when I wanted to find a good book on Indian birds long time back…Sankarahttp://sankaracs.blogspot.com

This is capers. Yes! You have the little green caper, which is made from the flower – what do you call it – before it blooms. The little "dot". The berries you have in the picture. We also do eat those, but I don't find them as delissious as the the "dots"!Ulla
