I was offered this paan in a restaurant in Jaipur on MI Road where I had a very late lunch of Idli and Dosa followed by South Indian Coffee. Can’t remember how many years had gone by since I had a paan. Not that I have been a regular paan eater ever, it always has been an occasional affair.
There are many ways in which a paan can be made and some of them include tobacco too. I of course do not take tobacco so I was a bit hesitant in eating this. But the server assured me that this had no tobacco or supari (Areca Nut or Beetle Nut). I finally decided to take the plunge and eat it! Yes I gobbled it all and liked it, it had a mild flavor and was sweet. I did a Google search and found and someone with a colorful name of Mucchad is selling paan even online! So when did you last had a paan? Maybe you would like to order one online?
I love meeta paan, that too, when I visit my home town and when the whole family huddles ,post lunch we like to have this. I had my paan a year back.
I can’t tolerate those (unfortunately) .. but i never mind..
I had mine with the betel nut and choona (CACO3) just 2 days back. Paan is such a delight after a heavy meal. This is one thing that you can have even on a very full stomach 🙂
Happy Diwali to you and your family
i like the sweet paan with gulkand only
I used to have meetha paan on weddings. My grandmother used paan a lot.
Chitra 😀 I think that is my frequency too, once a year!
Tarun not even the sweet one?
Sankara 😀 I say the same for sweets, can have them even after lunch! Only trouble is that the weighing machine doesn’t like it.
Thank you SM, hope you too had a wonderful Diwali.
And you attend a lot of wedding Abhilas it seems from the posts you write 😀
Not much of a ‘pan’ person but liked this post and the way you described the experience. Found it interesting.
Neither am I a paan person Sanand but yes a real occasional one feels good!
