The Seven Sisters Waterfall, North Sikkim

No clue why it is called the Seven Sisters Waterfall. Searched for the same and yet found no answers.

    The possibilities:1. The accompanying waterfalls appear only during a particular season.2. The local name is different. I could not find the name on the Sikkim Govt. tourism website. Maybe its arecent name given by tour operators.3. The accompanying waterfalls are far apart. Try reducing the size of the picture on Wikimaps (http://wikimapia.org/13121774/Seven-Sisters-Waterfall-Sikkim)

    I vaguely remember while studying in school that the seven sisters were the seven North Eastern states of India – Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Tripura. Here is the link in wiki – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_Sister_States

    So we went there recently and I asked my driver the same. He said there are 7 tiers to the falls, hence the name 7 sisters. Of course, we could only see 3, but he insisted there are 7 of them

    I had been there on 23rd march,11. It was great trip to north sikkim. The seven sisters waterfalls is great. It has been a great impact on me.

    I came from hyderabad. Yesterday 23 April 2014, I went to waterfall called seven sisters. .It was a great experience ..
