I see purple sunbirds almost everyday.

It is another matter that I have yet to manage a decent picture.

I thought I will post some of the pictures that have.

Maybe posting these pictures will break the spell! And the next time I will manage a better one.

Hey, i liked the last two pics….. u are getting better anyway…. i love the way its back shines…i see lots of them too, but have never been able to get a good shot!

and chitra, it is much, much smaller than a kingfisher and much darker too… i m sure there are lots of them in the south too….they are tiny little birds which fly incredibly fast!

Chitra as Anu says this is smaller and all purple.

Anu the last two pics were taken from the closest distance among all.

Beautiful pics Mridula. I have never seen or heard of this bird 🙁 again thanks to the cement world of Mumbai.

The beak seems long and very sharp. Nice shot.

Thank you Megha, reading your comment at the end (hopefully) of a long and tiring day. Just the thing I needed before I hit the bed.

Beautiful series, I always admire these kind of photos coz they’re quite hard to photograph.

Sunita I guess you do not have much zoom in the camera, that is the only difference. I saw your post.
