The Phoenix Settlement at Night, Indanda, South Africa

The Phoenix Settlement at Night, Durban South Africa

Posted on June 9, 2013May 13, 2021

The Phoenix Settlement at Inanda has a strong Indian connection. Gandhiji stayed here and launched his newspaper ‘The Indian Opinion’ from this place.

It has been defined by the CERIO as

Throughout its long history, the Settlement played an important role both from the spiritual and political point of view, in promoting justice, peace and equality.

During my visit to the place where Gandhiji lived I thought people in South Africa revere him more than we do!
