I thought this was a baby sunbird but then when I asked at Indiamike I realized that it is adult male sunbird in the eclipse plumage. Clicked this when the light was fading and the sky was overcast hence this gloomy background. The good part was that the bird was quite close to me, hence some of the details could still be captured in spite of the poor light.
Short & Sweet with different color – will say.
Thanks for sharing.
hmm..u still had better bird shots than this one…
Remarkably clear photographs, despite the light conditions. You have a good camera! 🙂
wonderful!! and i hadnt even heard of eclipse plumage!
Purple colour is not seen, may be because it is twilight. the bird posed well for you.
super pix as usual..mridula…omg..i laughed so much after reading yr comment…real fun
n the fun is i was expecting that exact comment fm u..hehe:)
gee, really! I just had a bird visitor on my balcony -no less than a beautiful and mighty Osprey – practically in front of my nose for quite some time. Will I ever learn to grab my camera in such a moment? I just grinned at the bird and he piped at me, then flew away. Oh well, I have your pictures to look at 😉 Nice shot again!
i like sun birds..realized i had taken some decent shots of them during my last birding trip, but unwittingly deleted the shots..he seems to be comfy in front of the camera
Thanks Appu.
Tarun I agree it was quite low light when I took this one.
