Mynas making a Din and Clatter and then some more at the Chandigarh Railway Station
On the Thursday I (along with Sesha and a friend) was waiting for the 2012 Kalka Shatabdi Express at the platform no. 1 of the Chandigarh Railway Station. There were Mynas everywhere. And making quite a racket. I took some still shots (but my SLR is still not talking to my computer) but then decided to capture the voice of the Mynas as it is to be heard to be believed.
I searched on the net for more information and found this dismal piece of news about the Mynas at Chandigarh-
The Ambala Railway Division is determined to shoo away birds from the Chandigarh Railway Station. A senior official said, “We will definitely ask them what kind of gadgets they are going to put and what rays they would emit. We would ensure that the rays are not harmful to the birds.”
The good thing is that the news is dated July 2009 and I took the video on February 4,2010. The Mynas are still there and I hope they will remain there a long time.
PS. This is my first attempt at including my voice in a video and how tired (which I was) and unsure I sound!
What a racket!!! i too hope the birds survive! and the recording was good! we managed to hear u in spite of the birds 🙂
I too hope that the mynahs remain there.
This looks different. Nice to hear voice too.
i think we spell it as "Maina"
also i remember while going to /coming from college sometime i use to pass through Nehru park in evening, i used to hear same kind of noice of birds. i do not know which birds they were (or if they were all different kind) but it used to be same pleasant racket.
didnt they implement the rays? was it indian technology or china made? :)Hope people see mynas longer…It was great to hear your voice.
Anu thank you.Sanand the birds I too hope will be there.Thank you Chitra.Abhilash there was some talk of rays in the article I liked too. Not sure if they were Indian or not. And thank you for commenting positively on my tired voice.Nilesh Google spells them as Myna and hence I too stick to the same spelling and I agree the racket is pleasing to hear. Good to see you leaving a comment after such a long time.
😀 You could work for Discovery channel :POne thing that I have noticed that apart from many other cacophonies the one from the bird seldom causes headache, infact it refreshes mind more than anything else…
Tarun I agree about the headache part 😀
