Mirchi and Nimbu To Cast off the Evil Eye!

I clicked this picture at Port Blair while we were waiting to board MV Makruzz. The lemon and the chilli (nimbu and mirchi in Hindi) that you see tied to a vehicle is supposed to be put to cast off an evil eye. It is very commonly used all over India though we have personally never used it. I am happy just with a picture.

yea….there’s too much hoopla about the evil eye in India…it’s the safest and easiest thing to dump on if anything goes wrong, just say ‘Kisi ki nazar lag gayi’
