Lac Jewellery from Jaipur

Posted on December 19, 2008
Lac Earrings from Jaipur, Rajasthan

I use ornaments sparingly. But I have to admit I am quite fond of earrings and can wear quite big ones that resemble chandeliers! And there is no place like Jaipur to shop for jewellery. I bought all the stuff in the picture from Jaipur (but not in this trip alone). Lac and stones both are popular, though the stone ones more expensive. The earring at the top left hand corner is a stone one and rest everything is made of lac.

I LOVE them, but they always look kind of silly on me – thankfully I have nieces who are wearing them well, so I keep buying them and put them in my jewelery box. When my nieces visit, they always love to go through my things and ask: can I please, please have them? Which, of course makes me happy. I am sure if I would give them those things in the first place it wouldn’t be as much fun – grin!
