Hi from a Rainy and Windy Lancaster!

Posted on November 24, 2009

I could not sleep beyond six in the morning today. I had gone to bed at 8.00pm the previous day, a record for me indeed. Hence after 10 hours I had to wake up! Made a cup of tea and took a look out. It was raining! Pouring actually. A little later I went for breakfast where this cheerful young lad who is very fond of saying ‘smashing’ was the server for the day.

I asked him, “Where can I buy an umbrella?” With a laugh he said, “Yes, it is buying an umbrella kind of the day.” The he offered to call reception and ask if they had one in lost property. But they didn’t had one. Thankfully I got an umbrella quite close by.

It is another matter that it is so windy that at every turn the umbrella tries to fly away from my hand. And get bent the other way!

I am still enjoying.

When I worked in England, I pasted photoS of sun in my office. One guy asked me – why so many photos of sun. Usually, people keep their family photos. "So that I don't forget how sun looks like", was my response.

Reminded me of gloomy cricket match forecasts. But, a weather like this also triggers a sense of introspection because of the lack of activities one can indulge in. Could be totally relieving at times and equally frustrating at others. But you must have still been busy with work 🙂

Yes, Sangfroid and by the time I would come out it would be dark, but then rain, dark, cold nothing deterred me from walking around a bit. A lot of night shots this time.Priyank, the trouble is that if you are some place just for a week then you give it a try no matter what the weather is like.
