In my last employment, I was a professor but I was already an established blogger too. It was difficult to juggle the two roles, my travels would take me all over the country whereas my students wished to stay connected. Given the techonological advances how tough that could be? It turned out to be pretty tough if you were not with the right network.
In any given semester I would be handling at least 100 students in various courses. It would be particularly difficult if I was traveling closer to their exams and assignment submissions. Being away on an exotic trip in say Chhattisgarh would become a nightmare due to connectivity issues. While cities have an excellent connectivity – head out about 50 km from the city, and you will discover numerous villages and districts just have no network. While things are changing now, the pace of development is not even, it’s still a long road ahead.
As I traveled for my blogging trips, I noticed there were severe network issues! I couldn’t get in touch back home, my students couldn’t call me and my work was getting extremely difficult to manage. I used to be on Airtel but then because of the college connection, I had to change my operator. The network issues made it difficult for me to answer the student queries on the go! I just couldn’t get simple things done on time because network was just not responding.
One day when while passing through a small town in Chhattisgar, we stopped at the village square. I saw an elderly gentleman streaming a video on Youtube; at the point when my phone had no signal. I went up to him and asked him what network he was using to which he answered Airtel. I felt a little stupid.
The next five days I travelled with an Airtel sim (which was anyway my personal number) through the entire trip, and nowhere I lost the network. It was easy for my students and colleagues to connect with me after that! It was easier to manage my work and blogging with Airtel.
Ohh! I didn’t ever think of network issues a travel blogger could have! Now I think, being a travel blogger is the toughest blogging challenges!
Yes, even my experience is the same. Airtel is available in remote villages near my native.

My personal experience had been very bad with Airtel in the past. However, I am not happy with the current service provider as well. I’m planning to change the service provider anytime soon.

I too use Airtel till-date since the day I start using mobile years ago. And I am very much happy with it.
