Earrings from Dilli Haat, Delhi, India

Earrings from Dilli Haat
Earrings from Dilli Haat

Guess what is the heart shaped straw thing from which my earrings are dangling? My sister gifted them to me while we were roaming around Dilli Haat last weekend. But this was not the display from where they were hanging at Dilli Haat. This is my arrangement as I wanted to photograph them. I have been trying all these stunts after reading the DPS website, they share so many ideas that it is impossible not to try something on your own. So what is this?

Well, it is a fallen weaver bird’s nest that has been at our home for a long time! There is a tree nearby where weaver birds make nests in dozens. And after a while, when the babies grow up, the nests fall off to the ground on their own and they are empty. A long time back I had picked one up and put it at my home. I was furiously searching for a backdop for taking a picture of these earrings when my eyes fell on the nest and here we are.

Superb! I quite like the use of nest…the dangling spheres actually look like small eggs in the nest…

Kind of cruel, but nice nevertheless 🙂

What cruel Siddharth? I patiently explained that this was a discarded nest after the babies had flown away from the nest, the ones that fall to the ground 😀

Haha…not of course in a literal way, more sort of black humor 🙂 Like dangling eggs outside the nest 🙂
