So, I am back from Shringi once again, with my cell phone this time and I combined it with my general break from blogging. There was more snow around the place. I have tons of pictures (but with old Nikon coolpix point and shoot, the new one is in servicing). Have a lot to write and pictures to upload but before that I have to take a class tomorrow and have to attend to it first. But regular posts will commence now.
…the new one is in servicing).. – What happened?!Waiting for the pics…
Welcome back. This picture looks beautiful with those fresh snow on “seedhidar khet”. New camera for servicing ?? Kyu kya hua ?
Congratss on getting ur cellphone back! 🙂
I suspected that break. But on the other hand thought “Naaah, you won’t head back to Shringee within a month.”Mk

Good guess I must say. I went back so soon because after all, cell phone has some utility value.Ajeya, you got it right, the trip was the primary purpose :)Thanks Sanjay.Karnail, thanks for sharing. I have to say I never thought about the income tax issue for women like this.
Sorry, I am in habit of using “Mk”I am Madhukar.Mk :)mk26in
Madhukar, now I know. So, use any of these. My old question, it seems you don’t blog?
Yes, ’cause i can’t concentrate on a subject for more than 3 minutes. :)Sort of gold-fish thing.Mk
Madhukar, I guess to each his/her own …
Hi Mridula,Nice pics from this trip :). And when you goto Prashar lake, can visit the Rivalsar one too – with its floating islands (http://hpmandi.nic.in/tourism.htm.And) yes, it IS a small world.
Rajeev, do you know about these places in some detail? I am looking for info on Prashar? An Indiamike query got me some but I still need loads more.
Sorry Mridula,I can’t really help much. Last I visited this area was some 20-25 years back; And even then I had the advantage of going with my father in his offical jeep.I agree, Soulmates info on IM was good. Rivalsar, and Jhanjheli (which in my opinion a very beautiful valley) have had bus service for a long time. But, Parashar lake, i think is still in the wilderness :). I will soon have a family member in Palampur. I would be able to help if you plan to go that side sometime.
Hi Mridula,I see that one 30Km trek is Baggi – Prasher – Jawalapur. To reach Baggi, You can take a direct bus going to Mandi/kullu/Manali and drop off at SunderNagar. Baggi is less than 10 km’s from there, and there are buses to Baggi and beyond from Sundernagar. There is alsoa train from delhi to KiratPursahib (this starts at 11:50pm and reaches Kiratpur at abt 5 am). And then a bus to Sundernagar will take another 3-4 hrs.
Rajeev, thanks a lot for both your comments. I wrote mail to someone who had put the pictures of the trek on Webshots. The kind person has agreed to reply to my questions. The Kiratpur train idea seems interesting. I was not even aware of the name of the place.
Hey Mridula,U are planning to visit places, that have been close to me – we lived in SunderNagar for 3 years, my bro-in-law was posted at Baggi when my sis got married to him :). And long back my grandfather taught at a school in Gohar, about two day’s trek from Baggi. Kiratpur Sahib boasts of one of the more important Sikh gurudwaras – worth a visit in itself. The train is pretty slow – 4553, Himachal express, but it offers a comfortable overnight journey option. This is the only broad gauge train running through Himachal!
my mail is rg1008 at gmail
Rajeev, thanks a lot for sharing all the information about HP and more so about telling us of your association with the state. I am sure you would have enjoyed all those places in HP and I do envy you for that. And of course I have used your email id 🙂
