ASUS Zenfone 2

Posted on July 15, 2015April 12, 2021

There is a special reason why I am excited by the launch of ASUS Zenfone 2 even though I rarely wax eloquent about gadgets. ASUS Zenfone is the first smartphone that my father used and he is still using it. And he is 70 plus.

Initially he resisted smartphones with all his might. So we never bought him one. But one fine day a packet arrived for him from Flipkart and none of us could figure out who ordered it. It was the Zenfone. After some investigation we figured out that it was my elder nephew Dilip who ordered the phone for his grandfather without telling anyone!

I remember the initial days when Android used to bug him no end. He would come to me and ask something that seemed so self explanatory. But we kept our cool. Gradually he got a hang of it. He uses it for Twitter (he has more than 800 followers), he uses it for stock trading. I can’t remember when he asked anything about the phone last, it would have been months now. He is quite comfortable with it.

But what he loves most is the sound quality on the phone. At 70 plus he sometimes finds it difficult to listen clearly to a call. But never with his Zenfone. So I know what to gift him when it will be time to upgrade his phone, it is going to be a Zenfone 2, because he is is familiar with it. I told him that I have been invited to write about Zenfone 2 and would he share his experiences, he started by saying, “It of course has many features that I do not know about.” And then he went on to list some of what I have narrated.

My father has always been one who goes for value for money (and now you know where I come from) and he would be happy to know that Zenphone 2 is priced in the range of 20K. So while he may not care for many features, he surely is expecting the same sound quality. A better display that comes with Zenone 2 would probably make him more active on Twitter!Β The phone is doing very well globally with countless awards and record units sold across many countries. According to the infographics “China saw 1,500,00 preorders in 15 days and in “60000 Zenfone 2 orders in Taiwan in 2 months.”

While I know there are many improved features in Zenfone 2, for me the connect with the brand is very personal. It has a phone that my father likes!

I love the camera features and photo editing apps which are built into the Zenfone. Its so easy to edit any photo or video on the fly. Dad’s are always special and the gift for them always has to be the best. He will surely love the phone.

And he hardly uses the camera but he loves its sound quality and that is truly important for him.

That’s such a sweet gesture of gifting new technology to your Grandpa…and OMG he has 800 followers…impressive. He is doing best he can with his phone in fact more than any one of us could have probably done with it ever πŸ™‚ I am already impressed with your father’s tech savvy skills at 70, Mridula πŸ™‚

Very simple yet effective review, Mridula. It’s easy to connect with it. Every father has somewhat similar predicament. πŸ™‚

And smartphones should be simply forced on them! At least that is what our experience teaches!
