    ur backyard seem to be full of cute birds :)recomendation for telephoto lens: i wud suggest canon ef 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS usm – its worth it, if u dont mind spending abt 1.4K$ or u can simply upgrade to the IS version of the lens u have. I guess, u have the 70-300 non-IS now?
