I feel a lot of gratitude for 2016, it was a fabulous year travel wise, so much so that I have changed my new year greeting. I used to say may we travel more but now I say, may we travel well! So here is the travel roundup 2016!

I extended two of my trips in UK and Thailand. I did one personal trip to Jaipur with my parents-in-law. In all I did 27 trips this year, a vast majority of them sponsored. I feel immense gratitude for the year that was 2016.
May we all travel well in 2017. If you desire for something other than travel, may your wishes come true.
As for new year resolutions I think I am good with what I thought of in 2017. I just need to keep the same things in my thoughts in 2017 too!
I was looking for the resolutions I made in 2015 and then I found I made none! So the good news is that I don’t need to reevaluate how I fared! But I feel slightly puzzled, I thought I did put up some resolutions for 2015 too. That should give you a clue about me and resolutions? But here I go with new year resolutions the 2016 edition. And I am going to keep it very simple this year.
Health and Fitness
This one is pretty obvious, I believe. No health, no wealth, no fun! Being mindful about it is the best thing I can do in 2016.
Travel and Blogging
For someone like me this is also pretty obvious. Travel is that one thing, it is my thing. And if I am not bored of blogging after 10 years, I guess, that is my thing too. They go hand in hand.
I need to be more focused though. Earlier I had a full time job, blogging is work now. The good news, it doesn’t feel like work at all. The bad news, my job paid me much more than my blog. I hope I will find a way to balance the two in 2016.
I love nature. I am in love with the hills, I enjoy being on a beach. When I wrote a post on the world environment day, I said I would cut down on my use of bath tubs, which I did. I have started carrying an empty water bottle to the airports. Most airports have water fountains. Security has no problem with an empty water bottle. And I use less of bottled water. But I want to get more involved in 2016.
I guess in my entire life, having fun was never really high on my agenda. I have often said to my family members that but for my blog, I never really got out and had fun. I did a Ph.D., had a regular career, slogged like anything. All this while, at least for the last ten years, I was managing a blog side by side! And then surprised myself by quitting my job. Now that I have done it and I am not getting any younger, I say it is high time I start having some fun.
I hope in 2016 I will reevaluate my options, do I want to go back to work? But then I am going to take it really easy, I am in no hurry to entertain these thoughts, I have barely quit!
And Above All Eating More Desserts
For me food is synonymous with desserts. While I promise I would not go on a binge, I plan to eat more desserts in 2016 and feel less guilty about them.
But above all, I want to travel more in 2016! My we all travel more in the new year!
Wish you all a very happy, travel filled 2015. May we all travel more. That is what I have been wishing for, year after year! And if I can get more of the same as 2014 travel wise, I promise I am not going to complain!
Other than the constant desire for travel, there are only two things I wish to do in 2015. Both of them figured on the last year wish list as well.
The first and foremost is to get more sleep. I simply need more hours of sleep. I have never been one of those who could survive on 4-5 hours. I need 8 hours at least, the more the merrier. And I have been missing on it badly, which leaves me thoroughly tired. I don’t think I can survive another year of lack of sleep and tiredness.
The second thing I wish for is to get fitter. To this end I did take some initiative in 2014 itself. The story goes like this. I was visiting my sister and brother-in-law. My sister has been after my life to do something about my weight since ages. But then I always used to ignore her advice as she had seen me pencil thin in my younger days. But sometime in October even my brother-in-law Amrit also chimed in with my sister, not directly but he conveyed the message via her.
Now that is when I sat back and took notice. Action was imminent. Even before that my nephew asked me if I would like to join his gym nearby but I always thought I had no time. But with Amrit weighing in with my sister and nephew I had no option. I joined the gym sometime in October. I have been fairly regular with it. It is not entirely about weight loss but that would be welcome too.
As I like to trek so much, it is imperative that I remain fit, after all I am not so young anymore. Also, on every trek and trips to the mountains since 2013 all I got was rains. I thought that too was a sign. The mountains were telling me to come back when I was fit. After all, I have been trekking on will power much more than anything else and it felt as if the mountains were repelling me.
But like so many good things in life, blogging included, it was my sister and brother-in-law who set me on the path to fitness once again. So, in 2015 I wish I would get more sleep and keep fit. Everything else can wait. And even though I don’t say it on my blog, the important thing for me is the health of my dear ones. I say this very often in my conversations offline.
Now that I have got everything out of the way, here is to a rocking 2015, may we all travel more!
