It is time to post some bird pictures again. I love clicking birds but I am not very good at it. So here are some recent clicks.
A Cormorant in Flight, Siliserh Lake, Alwar
I was standing on the balcony of the Siliserh Lake Palace (a RTDC run Hotel) when I saw this cormorant flapping away. Luckily I had the zoom lens on the camera and I clicked the picture.
A Kingfisher in Flight, Siliserh Lake, Alwar
This Kingfisher with its fish was a similar story. I was standing in the balcony and out of nowhere (OK actually must have been hiding on the trees near the lake) came this kingfisher when I had the zoom lens on my camera and I clicked without thinking much!
Green Bee Eating Birds
This was yesterday morning in front of my home! I had barely opened my eyes when I saw a bird on the tree. I thought it was sitting on a nest or something. I ran to get my camera, change the lens and then go out to click. The green bee eating birds were patient. They waited for me. The trouble was that the sun was at the wrong place and I could get only this faded shot from a good angle. And it was only when I got out I realized that there were five birds sitting together and not one sitting on a nest!
Green Bee Eating Birds in a Group
This was really a patient group of birds as I was able to go to the balcony and then click them again where they looked more colorful but I could not catch all five of them clearly. What to do, such is life. Also I was getting late to go to work so I was happy with this shot and gave up!
These days I am fascinated with the red flowers and the birds that come and sit on the cotton tree (Bombax Ceiba). And there are so many types of birds that like this tree! This one is called Semal in Hindi.
These days I have started to compress my pictures when I post them to my blog. But some of them really look a little faded if I compress them. So when I am not compressing them the water mark goes back to the middle of the picture. I wish I could understand why some pictures loose clarity when I compress them. Happened with the Lady Bug picture too and had to post it at a higher resolution.
I started my India travel blog, Travel Tales from India in 2005. In 2016 I realized Travel Tales from India and Abroad better reflected my writings. I love to walk and ride in metros around the world. I have not been everywhere, I am not even close, but it is on my list. I also quit my job as a professor in 2015, it was a happening year! I did a Ph.D. from IIT Kanpur ages ago!
