I saw this person many times roaming around shirtless with his message!
And this person was saying it through art. He was painting his message and supporting Anna Hazare’s Fast at Jantar Mantar for Janlokpal Bill.
For her it was a day at work!
For the A2Z News it was not a happy day at work, their satellite connection refused to start!
As I said in my previous post there were many faces of the protest, here is one.
And here is another face that was out there protesting.
He also decided to come and be at Jantar Mantar.
She, like me, was happily taking pictures.
I spotted a banner belonging to IIT Roorkee students too.
And this one belonged to a poverty related union.
Not sure what free hug had got to do with Anna Hazare’s fast but there they were and I guess they were welcome.
And then there was this Air India Banner.
The Food at the Canteen, I was taking the pictures from its rooftop.
When he told me that he works at the canteen below, I apologized saying we have captured his resting spot. He replied, “ye tou kuch bhi nahin hai kal aur parson pair rakhne ke jagah nahin the!” (it is nothing today, there was no space at all yesterday and the day before).
This was after Anna Hazare broke his fast.
A small part of the crowd that I could capture in my camera.
He threw his shirt away and then he had to beg to get it back!
When I was leaving I asked the India Live TV group when would they go? They said they were going to stay till the end. I asked so they would have food here itself? Tehy replied usually on such days they too end up fasting!
This small girl was not at all afraid of the crowds, she sat on her father’s shoulders and had a nice time. I later saw her with her mom as well, she was eating food. For sure she would have been hungry. Her father was there for quite sometime with she happily on the shoulder.
I could click this because I climbed on the rooftop of the canteen along with the India Live TV crew and many others. There was A2Z news as well but there connection didn’t work. I used my zoom to the max to get this picture.
There were many faces of protest. I have never been a part of anything like this. In fact my sister and I would often say that we Indians do not have a culture of protest.
There were TV cameras and there were personal cameras and every one had something or the other to click.
The flag that you see in the picture was tied to the hair of the person in the picture! Who said style is only for dudes?
Father daughter protesting at Jantar Mantar. Even though we all knew that Anna Hazare was going to break his fast today, there were so many of us out there.
Song and dance was her way of protest and she was with a big group at Jantar Mantar. I think some TV channel covered them for quite sometime too.
Looks like everyone was welcome, saw Adivasi banner, Poverty banner, Village banner and IIT Roorkee banner among many others.
I have to say again, I have never witnessed anything like this! I feel privileged to be a part of the crowd at Jantar Mantar.
People taking pot shots on cricket, I have to say I like it.
Anna rocks, no doubt!
I have so many more pictures! I can do 10 posts!
However flawed the movement may have been, I think it is better than doing nothing. After all this is the first time I ever went to a mass gathering.
I started my India travel blog, Travel Tales from India in 2005. In 2016 I realized Travel Tales from India and Abroad better reflected my writings. I love to walk and ride in metros around the world. I have not been everywhere, I am not even close, but it is on my list. I also quit my job as a professor in 2015, it was a happening year! I did a Ph.D. from IIT Kanpur ages ago!
