Purple Sunbird in Eclipse Plumage

I thought this was a baby sunbird but then when I asked at Indiamike I realized that it is adult male sunbird in the eclipse plumage. Clicked this when the light was fading and the sky was overcast hence this gloomy background. The good part was that the bird was quite close to me, hence some of the details could still be captured in spite of the poor light.

Remarkably clear photographs, despite the light conditions. You have a good camera! 🙂

Purple colour is not seen, may be because it is twilight. the bird posed well for you.

gee, really! I just had a bird visitor on my balcony -no less than a beautiful and mighty Osprey – practically in front of my nose for quite some time. Will I ever learn to grab my camera in such a moment? I just grinned at the bird and he piped at me, then flew away. Oh well, I have your pictures to look at 😉 Nice shot again!

i like sun birds..realized i had taken some decent shots of them during my last birding trip, but unwittingly deleted the shots..he seems to be comfy in front of the camera

    Thanks Appu.

Tarun I agree it was quite low light when I took this one.

    That I have Sidhu 😀

Anu I too had not heard of it till I clicked this picture 😀

Yes Chitra there is only a little purple at the moment.

    Ramesh 😀

Lakshmi sad to hear that but your Singapore pictures are super.

Fida I am completely the other way round, I will end up missing a scene because I ran to pick up my camera. 😀
